Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865)
j BACKGROUND

Born in a log cabin in Kentucky and moved with his family to Indiana when he was seven

Helped in farming, went to school when he could, educated himself by reading books

 

j CAREER

At age 21, Lincoln took a job as a store clerk and took an interest in politics

By 1832 he ran for Illinois state legislature

16th President of the United States
